AN ACT to amend the Western Samoa Visitors Bureau Act 1984.

BE IT ENACTED by the Legislative Assembly of Western Samoa in Parliament assembled as follows:-

1. Short title - This Act may be cited as the Western Samoa Visitors Bureau Amendment Act 1997 and shall be read together with and be deemed part of the Western Samoa Visitors Bureau Act 1984 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).

2. Establishment of the Bureau - Section 3 of the principal Act is amended by omitting subsection (3) and substituting the following subsection:

"(3) There shall be a board of directors of the Bureau which shall consist of -

(a) The Minister, who shall be the Chairman of the Board;

(b) The Financial Secretary;

(c) The Secretary for Trade, Commerce and Industry;

(d) Up to seven other directors appointed by the Head of State, acting on the advice of Cabinet, to represent the interests of the tourist industry;

(e) The General Manager of the Bureau.

3. Deputies of members - Section 6 of the principal Act is amended by omitting from subsection (1) the words "Director of Economic Development" and substituting the words "Secretary for Trade, Commerce and Industry".
