FAMILY PROTECTION (AMENDMENT) ACT
NO. 7 OF 2011

An Act to amend the Family Protection Act No.28 of 2008.

Be it enacted by the President and Parliament as follows-

1. Amendment

The Family Protection Act No. 28 of 2008 is amended as set out in the Schedule.

2. Commencement

This Act commences on the day on which it is published in the Gazette.

SCHEDULE

AMENDMENTS OF THE FAMILY PROTECTION ACT NO. 28 OF 2008

1. After subsection 7(6)

Insert

“(7) The President may on the advice of the Judicial Service Commission, remove a person as an authorised person for neglect of duty, incompetence or misconduct.”

2. After subsection 8(5)

Insert

“(6) The Minister may, after consultation with the President of the National Council of Chiefs and the Director of the Department of Women’s Affairs and the Director General of the Prime Minister’s Office, remove a person as a registered counsellor for neglect of duty, incompetence or misconduct.”
