Barclay, In re [1912] VUNHJC 65; Criminal 106 (25 October 1912)

This twenty-fifth day of October 1912.

In the matter of a charge against David Reid Barclay of "Sassuli" Malo.

The above named David Reid Barclay having been duly summoned and having failed to answer thereto stands convicted before the Joint Court for that on or about the month of March 1912, contrary to the provisions of Article XXXIX (1) of the Convention he omitted to declare to the British Resident Commissioner the engagement of five native labourers within three days of their landing.

Thereupon the Joint Court sentences the said David Reid Barclay for his said offence to be fined in the sum of one pound (£1) and to pay the costs of the prosecution.
