PUBLIC AUDIT (AMENDMENT) ACT 2022

AN ACT TO AMEND THE PUBLIC AUDIT ACT

BE IT ENACTED by the King and Legislative Assembly of Tonga in the Legislature of the Kingdom as follows:

1. Short Title

(1) This Act may be cited as the Public Audit (Amendment) Act 2022.

(2) In this Act, the Public Audit Act, as amended, shall be referred to as the “Principal Act”.

2. Section 2 amended

Section 2 of the Principal Act is amended by -

(a) deleting the words ““Audit Office” means the Office of the Auditor General”; and
(b) adding the following new words where appropriate:

• ““Tonga Office of the Auditor General” means the Office of the Auditor General;”. 33

The Principal Act is amended by deleting the words “Audit Office” wherever they appear and replacing them with “Tonga Office of the Auditor General”.

3. Reference to Audit Office replaced

The Principal Act is amended by deleting the words “Audit Office” where ever they appear and replacing them with “Tonga Office of the Auditor General”.
