Unlawful cultivation of illicit drugs cannabis contrary to section 4 (a) Illicit Drugs Control Act unlawful use of illicit drugs contrary to section 4 (a) of the Illicit Drugs Control Act 2003


11 plants - own use


Admitted to drug addiction problem - support of wife - bush worker - 10 years Tonga navy officer - acquired drug problem working undercover in Army - no previous convictions of relevance


SENTENCE:


1. Cultivation - 100 hours community work under probation office direction;


2. Unlawful use - Probation - 12 months bond of good behaviour;


Condition - under probation to attend an alcohol and drug addiction course with Salvation Army


Condition - make immediate contact with probation
