SUMMARY OF SENTENCE DELIVERED ORALLY
The prisoner aged 18 pleaded guilty to two counts of housebreaking contrary to section 173 (1) (b) Criminal Offences Act (Cap 18), and two counts of theft contrary to section 143 and 145 (a) of the Criminal Offences Act
In all about 600 worth of property taken
Offences took place after the prisoner had been drinking - opportunistic.
Optimistic probation report - showing better attitude at school displaying talent as an artist school support
Support of parents - father well qualified man - son showed some adolescent misbehaviour - neglected school - peer group affect - prisoner showed change in attitude - school support

SENTENCE
Housebreakings - 18 months imprisonment to be served concurrently fully suspended on the following conditions:
1. Not to commit any further crimes punishable by imprisonment for a period of three years;
2. He is not to drink alcohol for a period of 18 months;
3. Placed on probation for 2 years on following conditions:
- i. He is to attend an Alcohol and Drug Addiction Programme under the Salvation Army;
- ii. He attend a life skills course under the Salvation Army
Thefts community work for 80 hours concurrent with one another and housebreaking.
