SENTENCE

The Defendant in this case is Philip Bopa. He has been indicted for one count of Defilement of girl between the age of thirteen and fifteen years under section 143 (i) (a) of the Penal Code. He was arraigned in court on 15th July 2019 and pleaded guilty to the charge.

There are greed facts counsels in this case. They are:

  1. The Defendant is Philip Bopa, He is from Ravu Sodulu village, Sandly, Ngella, Central Province.
  2. The Complainant is Roylyn Vute. She is from Ravu Sodulu village, Sandly, Ngella, Central Province.
  3. The Complainant was born on the 9th September 2001.
  4. The offence occurred on an unknown date between 1st and 31st October 2014.
  5. The Complainant and Defendant knew each other well as they are from the same village.
  6. The Defendant was about forty years when he committed crime.
  7. The Complainant was aged between thirteen and fifteen years of age when the Defendant committed his offence.

The Defendant has no previous conviction. He is first offender. He pleaded guilty to his offence. He is married with six children. He is forty seven years old. He earns money to support himself, his wife and his six children through fishing and gardening.

The Defendant is according sentenced to serve two years imprisonment from today 20th August 2019. Order accordingly.
