EXCHANGE OF LETTERS CONSTITUTING AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE GOVERNMENT OF NEW ZEALAND AND THE GOVERNMENT OF THE SOLOMON ISLANDS ON ARRANGEMENTS FOR THE VISIT BY A NEW ZEALAND DEFENCE FORCE CONTINGENT TO SOLOMON ISLANDS EXERCISE TROPIC TWILIGHT 1999

Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade Relations of Solomon Islands presents its compliments to the New Zealand High Commission in Honiara and has the honour to forward hereto the reply to the Exchange of Letters between the Government of New Zealand and Solomon Islands regarding the Tropic Twilight 99.
The former would greatly appreciate if the attached signed letter be transmitted to its highest destination.
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade Relations of Solomon Islands avails itself of this opportunity to renew to the New Zealand High Commission the assurances of its highest consideration.

The New Zealand High Commission presents its compliments to the Government of Solomon Islands and has the honour to refer to the Exchange of Letters constituting an Agreement between the Government of New Zealand and the Government of Solomon Islands on Arrangements for the Visit by a New Zealand Defence Force Contingent to Solomon Islands for Exercise Tropic Twilight 99 ("the Agreement').
The New Zealand High Commission has the honour to propose that the Agreement be supplemented by the following understandings:
1. In addition to the personnel and facilities set out in clause 3 of the Agreement, the Government of Solomon Islands will also make available to the New Zealand Contingent a patrol boat to transport a medical team from Kirakira to Manahata on 9 May 1999, and return the same team from Manahata to Kirakira on 21 May 1999.
2. Clause 17.b. of the Agreement will extend to any member of the Royal Solomon Islands Police while on official duty in connection with Exercise Tropic Twilight 99.
If this proposal is acceptable to the Government of Solomon Islands, the New Zealand High Commission has the honour to propose that this note, together with your reply to that effect, will place on record the understanding of our two Governments in the matters set out above.
The New Zealand High Commission takes this opportunity to renew to the Government of Solomon Islands the assurances of its highest consideration.

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade Relations of Solomon Islands presents its compliments to the New Zealand High Commission in Honiara and has the honour to refer to the latter's note number 99/27 regarding the proposed amendment to the Agreement for the Tropic Twilight 99.
The former wish to inform that it has accepted the proposed amendment to be supplemented by the understanding stated in 1 and 2 of the latter's note number 99/27.
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade Relations avail itself of this opportunity to the New Zealand High Commission the assurances of its highest consideration.

Certification, dated 29th April 1999, of Murray John Finlay Luxton, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of New Zealand that Nicholas John Hurley, High Commissioner of New Zealand to Solomon Islands was vested with the power to sign this above agreement.

Certification of registration of the above document with the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Done at New York on 2 May 2000.
