High Court of Kiribati |
IN THE HIGH COURT OF KIRIBATI
CIVIL JURISDICTION
HELD AT KIRITIMATI
REPUBLIC OF KIRIBATI
Civil Case 26 of 2003
Between:
MANEATAAKE TAAWE
Plaintiff
And:
TIIM TAEKITI
Defendant
For the Plaintiff: Ms Jacqueline Huston
For the Defendant: Mr Aomoro Amten
Date of Hearing: 2 March 2004
MEMORANDUM
The plaintiff and defendant were married to each other for over 20 years and had many children. In this action the plaintiff claimed for settlement of financial matters, to get her share of the matrimonial property. Maintenance for the two youngest children was also an issue.
It was quite inappropriate and unpleasant having to try out these claims in open court. I did not enjoy doing so.
The method I used was to define a matter of dispute, hear argument and the evidence of plaintiff and defendant and make a decision. None of this was recorded.
After persuasion all issues between the parties were either agreed or decided. Finally minutes of order were drafted and signed by both counsel.
THE HON ROBIN MILLHOUSE QC
Chief Justice
