iTaukei Affairs (Amendment) Decree 2012

iTAUKEI AFFAIRS (AMENDMENT) DECREE 2012
(DECREE NO. 22 OF 2012)

IN exercise of the powers vested in me as President of the Republic of Fiji and the Commander in Chief of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces by virtue of the Executive Authority of Fiji Decree 2009, I hereby make the following Decree -

Short title and commencement

1. - (1) This Decree may be cited as the iTaukei Affairs (Amendment) Decree 2012 and shall come into force on the date of its publication in the Gazette.

(2) The iTaukei Affairs Act (Cap. 120) shall be referred to as the "Principal Act".

Section 2 amended

2. Section 2 of the Principal Act is amended by deleting the word "Council" and its definition.

Part 2 renamed

3. Part 2 of the Principal Act is amended by deleting the title "PART 2 - GREAT COUNCIL OF CHIEFS AND iTAUKEI AFFAIRS BOARD" and substituting "PART 2 - iTAUKEI AFFAIRS BOARD".

Section 3 deleted

4. Section 3 of the Principal Act is deleted.

Section 4 amended

5. Section 4 of the Principal Act is amended -

(a) by deleting subsection (1) and substituting "There shall be a Board called the iTaukei Affairs Board which shall consist of such appointed and elected persons as the Minister may by Regulations prescribe."; and

(b) in subsection (4) by deleting "and to refer such questions to the Council".

Section 5 amended

6. Section 5 of the Principal Act is amended in paragraphs (a), (b) and (c) by deleting "Council and of the".

Section 11 amended

7. Section 11 of the Principal Act is amended by deleting subsections (2), (3), (4), (5) and (6).
