AN ACT

TO AMEND THE HOTELS AID ACT

[1st January 2005]

ENACTED by the Parliament of the Fiji Islands-

Short title and commencement

1.-(1) This Act maybe cited as the Hotels Aid (Budget Amendment) Act 2005 and is deemed to have come into force on 1st January 2005.

(2) In this Act "Principal Act" means the Hotels Aid Act (Cap. 215).

Section amended

2. The principal Act is amended in section 2 in the definition of "hotel" by inserting after "consideration" the following-

", and includes a resort constructed with facilities and amenities for retirement purposes".

Section 12 amended

3. Section 12 of the principal Act is amended-

(a) in the definition of "hotel" by inserting after "consideration" the following-

(a) in the definition of "hotel" by inserting after "consideration" the following-

", and includes a villa for resort purposes";

(b) in paragraph (b) of the definition of "short life investment" by deleting "31st December 2005" and substituting "31st December 2008".

Section 16 amended

4. Section 16(1) of the principal Act is amended by deleting "31 December 2005" and substituting "31 December 2008".

Section 18 amended

5. Section 18(1) of the principal Act is amended by deleting "31 December 2005" and substituting "31 December 2008".

Section 21 amended

6. Section 21(1)(a) of the principal Act is amended by deleting "31st December 2005" and substituting "31 December 2008".

Passed by the House of Representatives this 10th day of February 2005.

Passed by the Senate this 7th day of March 2005.
