FIJI SERVICEMEN'S AFTER-CARE FUND ACT (AMENDMENT) PROMULGATION 2007
(PROMULGATION NO. 38 OF 2007)
IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred upon the Interim Government, and upon the exercise of my own deliberate judgement as President of the Republic of the Fiji Islands as to what is best and good for the people of Fiji, and by the executive authority of the State in accordance with Section 85 of the Constitution and such other powers as may be appertain, and with the advice of the Cabinet, I, Josefa Iloilovatu Uluivuda make this Promulgation -
TO AMEND THE FIJI SERVICEMEN'S AFTER-CARE FUND ACT (CAP. 84)
Short title
1. This Promulgation may be cited as the Fiji Servicemen's After-Care Fund Act (Amendment) Promulgation 2007.
Section 2 amended
2. Section 2 of the Fiji Servicemen's After-Care Fund Act ("the Act") is amended by inserting the following definitions -
"Active service operation" means any peacekeeping, peace observer, or peace enforcement missions undertaken with the United Nations or any other Multi-National Force or Republic of Fiji Military Forces sanctioned mission.
"Serviceperson" means any member of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces who has served in active service operations and shall include members of the Fiji Police Force and Fiji Prison Service who served in active service operations with the Republic of Fiji Military Forces".
Section 4 amended
3. Section 4 of the Act is amended by adding after paragraph (b) the following paragraph -
"(c) for the aid and care of servicepersons having served in any active service operations".
