An Act to amend the Juries Act 1968.
The Parliament of the Cook Islands enacts as follows—
This Act is the Juries Amendment Act 2015-16.
This Act comes into force on the date it is assented to by the Queen’s Representative.
This Act amends the Juries Act 1968.
(1) Section 3(1) is amended by repealing the figure “60” after the words “21 years and” and before the word “years”, and substituting the figure “65”.
(2) Section 3(3) is repealed.
Section 4(a) is amended by repealing the words “a British subject”, and substituting “a Cook Islander or a permanent resident as defined by the Entry Residence and Departure Act 1971-72:”
(1) Section 5(1)(h) is repealed and the following paragraph is substituted—
“(h) a Barrister or Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of the Cook Islands and holding a current practising certificate:”.
(2) Section 5(1)(i) is repealed.
This Act is administered by the Ministry of Justice.
