An Act to amend the Family Protection and Support Act 2017.

The Parliament of the Cook Islands enacts as follows—

1. Title

This Act is the Family Protection and Support (Amendment) Act 2017.

2. Commencement

This Act comes into force on 1 December 2017.

3. Principal Act amended

This Act amends the Family Protection and Support Act 2017.

Part 1

Amendments to the Principal Act

4. Interpretation

Section 4 is amended by deleting from the meaning of matrimonial property the following words “Matrimonial Property Act 1976 (NZ)” and substituting the following words “Matrimonial Property Act 1991-92”

5. Legal effect of separation

Section 12 is amended by deleting from subsection (c) the words “Matrimonial Property Act 1976 (NZ)” and substituting the words “Matrimonial Property Act 1991-92”
